“Exiled” by Maya Banks

Prince Alexander Carrera has been waiting for Talia Montforte for four long years. Waiting for her to mature. To be ready for him. Their island country is in turmoil and he is in exile. In exchange for taking care of her mother so Talia could attend university in Paris, she has willingly agreed to spend six months with him. As he puts it, to belong to him. She’s a virgin and doesn’t fully understand his motivation for such an arrangement, so she feels some trepidation even while she acknowledges a strong attraction to him. Then she is told she’ll not only be pleasuring him but his three guards and most trusted and loyal friends as well. It’s more than a little intimidating to say the least, but they make every effort to help her feel comfortable, and promise that her pleasure is of the utmost importance. But what will happen to their arrangement when their country is ready for its rightful ruler to return?

The main thing keeping this exceptional story from being too perfect is how Xander bungles a few things, but even that just shows he's human so I can’t really find fault with it. The conflict may be resolved a little too easily for some readers, but I usually prefer that my angst be kept to a minimum, so I’m just fine with it. This is a definite panty-melter for anyone who has fantasized about being pleasured by more than one man. I found myself wishing this had been expanded into a full-length book. Be prepared for a delicious one-handed read that has as much tender emotion as it has pulse-pounding sex. The personalities of the four men are distinct, but when you add them all together they really create a perfect lover and companion.

“Sway” by Lauren Dane

Levi Warner is taking dance lessons for his brother's wedding when he encounters Daisy Huerta, part-time dance instructor and up-and-coming artist. He's an older man and something about him really catches her attention and turns her on. He's also a dominant lover, and she discovers that being submissive in the bedroom turns her on, too. Not only do they have their age difference to deal with, but they also come from different worlds and it causes them some conflict and angst. Fortunately they're both wonderful people, and it's very satisfying to see them work past their issues so they can be together. A lot of really fantastic characters are introduced in this story, and it looks like the beginning of a must-read series from this outstanding author.

Anyone who's a fan of either author will love this anthology, and if you're a fan of both like I am, you're in for a real treat. Erotic romance readers will not want to miss Cherished.

Something About Witches (Arcane Shot, #1)Something About Witches by Joey W. Hill

You think you've got problems? Ruby Night Divine will show you what real problems are. She's a witch who owns a gun shop. Her rationale? "Sometimes magic comes through; sometimes it doesn't. But superior firepower never lets you down." Ruby and Derek Stormwind have a history, and it's not pretty. In fact, she did everything in her power to make it difficult for him to find her, including using soul magic on him. He wasn't there when she needed him, so she cut him out completely. But when she's truly honest with herself, the only thing she wanted more than for him not to find her was for him to find her.

It's been three years since she left him, and she feels a stab of disappointment when she realizes he only found her because he has a job for her. A coven in Florida is sitting on a magical fault line that needs repairing and reinforcement and they need her to help train them. Meanwhile, Derek delves into the dark issues Ruby is having and lets her know that no matter what she does or has done, he's not letting her go again.

Something About Witches is vivid and smart, and Joey W. Hill is a breathtakingly sensual writer. Complex, gut-wrenchingly emotional, and jam-packed with action and angst, you won't want to put this one down. This is one intense read; it will grab your heart, shake it around a bit, and not let go until the very last page. I spent part of the book feeling very frustrated with Ruby, but when her secrets are finally revealed, it all comes together and makes sense. Recommended.

We first met Raina in the first book of the series; she's one of Ruby's closest friends. Raina has turned an old southern plantation into a modern day bordello, and her employees are succubi and incubi. Raina herself is half sex demon. She's able to control the powers of her employees so they're able to feed from the sexual energy of their clients without killing them, so the business is pretty successful. It also means she's got some very loyal employees.

A rogue incubus shows up on her doorstep, being chased by a Dark Guardian. And wouldn't you know it, that pursuer is none other than Mikhael Roman, Ruby's former booty-call squeeze, a coldhearted bastard who has a taste for rough sex. He's intrigued by what he sees beneath Raina's surface, and she can't resist the opportunity he presents, because with him she doesn't have to hold back when they have sex, for fear of killing him. And the fact that he's very sexually dominant adds yet another layer to his irresistibility. But that rogue incubus is being hunted by a demon far more ruthless than Mikhael, and now Raina's heart isn't the only thing in grave danger.

It takes a deft hand to make a hero out of a villainous character from a previous book, and Joey W. Hill apparently has the right brand of genius to do it. Raina and Mikhael are amazing together. They're well matched, strong, and uncompromising. Neither has ever been in a real relationship, and they're surprised by what they're feeling. Raina has found someone she can trust for the first time in her life, even while she's sure it's temporary. Be ready for intense emotions, a new view of the balance between light and dark, really great supporting characters, vivid details, a fast pace, less violence than what was in book one of the series despite the darker hero, scorching hot sex, and one of the most surprising heroes you may ever read. Yeah, In The Company of Witches is all that and more.

I would recommend reading this series in order so you can get a true appreciation for just how amazing Mikhael is as a hero.

Aphrodite's Kiss (Superhero Central #1)Aphrodite's Kiss by Julie Kenner

The first half of the book repeats & repeats & repeats the reasons the heroine can't/won't date the hero (or anyone). I'm not interested in reading the second half.

The ending felt a little abrupt, and running into the ex boyfriend didn't seem necessary for the story, but I enjoyed this one overall.

The Flavor of SummerThe Flavor of Summer by Lyra Marlowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great reunion/second chance story. David is a genuinely nice guy and a caring & thoughtful lover who researches D/s in order to please Ariel, the girl he had a crush on in high school. She had a bad reputation as being slutty, and he defends her to his former friends and current business clients. He's just what she needs, and they're great together.

The Perils of Pursuing a Prince (Desperate Debutantes, #2)The Perils of Pursuing a Prince by Julia London

As much as I love damaged heroes, this heroine was danging perilously close to TSTL, so I decided not to finish this one. DNF, not rated.

Wow, this one seriously fantastic series. Tamara & Elec are smoking hot together, and the whole book is packed with genuine emotion. I decided a while ago to skip book 3 in the series because I can't stand reading about couples who bicker, but I may have to rethink that decision. Hmm...
