Doctor Sophie Gable had seen Thomas Nicasio watching her in the office where his brother worked, but he had always kept his distance. She's on summer vacation and he shows up unexpectedly on her dock at the lake, looking mussed and dazed. She knows he's been dealing with a lot in his personal life lately, but until now their lives had barely crossed. Now he's saying he came for her. They get their groove on and he splits before she wakes up. The next time she sees him he's being escorted by two serious-looking guys she suspects might be feds so she decides it's a good idea to pretend she doesn't know him. He does the same but he's obviously affected by seeing her again. Thomas’s adoptive brother and nephew were killed in a supposed accident, but Sophie suspects it was a mafia-related hit. He’s caught in a dangerous game but his memory isn't working right, and now they're both in danger.

Explosive immediately gives you a sense of why Beth Kery is on everyone's ‘Wow!’ list. Thomas has a dominant, intense, raging lust for Sophie and when it’s combined with her eager willingness it creates a delicious intensity that I love. The book also had a great element of suspense that kept me guessing.

This was an overall fantastic book with powerful emotions and I hated to put it down. I probably would have read cover to cover in one sitting if I didn't have to eat, sleep, and work. This is a very highly recommended keeper.

Kiss of Crimson (Midnight Breed, #2)Kiss of Crimson by Lara Adrian

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm really liking this series. Book 2 continues the fight against the Rogues and gives readers a very luscious and intense Dante as the hero. Tess is an intelligent and likeable heroine, and the plot was tight and interesting. Definitely recommended.

Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1)Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'd even go so far as to say 4 1/2 on this one. It had a lot of things I love - passion, hot sex, chemistry, intensity, intelligent & likeable characters - and it wasn't brain-bendingly complicated to read like some paranormal romances I've read. I'm already starting the next book in the series.

Hungry for You (Argeneau, #14)Hungry for You by Lynsay Sands

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another terrific installment of the Argeneau series. A funny, sexy, low-stress read, just like the rest of the series. The part about the tin foil hat had me laughing out loud. A little predictable, but still an excellent brain candy for paranormal romance fans.

Chasing a Rogue (Sonnet Books)Chasing a Rogue by Victoria Malvey

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I got about 3/4 of the way through this book and realized I was about to get frustrated with the heroine's angst. I'm just not in the mood to feel frustrated. I'm skipping the rest of the book, but the first part was pretty good.

Seducing The ViscountSeducing The Viscount by Deborah Raleigh

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What I liked: The chemistry between the H/H was intense and fantastic. They were very likeable and intelligent.

My only criticisms: The "secret" was completely obvious very early in the book. Mercy was a doormat to the point that I wanted to slug her.
