Eat Prey Love (Love at Stake, #9)Eat Prey Love by Kerrelyn Sparks
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Love at Stake Book 9, Caitlyn and Carlos's story. I've enjoyed this series so much that it really pains me to say it but I'm just not interested in finishing this one. I got about 200 pages in, and not only do I not like the heroine much, I'm just not feeling the chemistry at all. Caitlyn is literally throwing herself at Carlos over and over and over, and it's starting to feel desperate. I'm just not liking it. I understand his reluctance and his need to save his species, yadda yadda, but the "I want you, but I can't have you" thing got old pretty quick. And then I read a hint that there might be a way for the "I must mate with someone of my species" angst to be avoided (trying to omit spoilers here) and that pretty much did it for me. DNF. :(

The Vampire and the Virgin (Love at Stake, #8)The Vampire and the Virgin by Kerrelyn Sparks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 8 in the Love at Stake series - this is Robby & Olivia's story. I continue to enjoy this series, and will be looking for similar books by other authors. There were a few times in this book that I felt like Olivia might be approaching TSTL territory, but overall she was a pretty good heroine. As always, Robby was an outstanding and patient hero.

Secret Life of a Vampire (Love at Stake, #6)Secret Life of a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Delicious and sweet hero, smart-most-of-the-time heroine, maybe a little predictable and with some cheesy bits thrown in here & there, but still terrific brain candy paranormal romance. This is book 6 in the series, Jack and Lara's story.

All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire (Love At Stake, #5)All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series has been consistently good. Reminds me of Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series, which I also enjoy. This is Ian and Toni's story.

His Every Kiss (Guilty Series, #2)His Every Kiss by Laura Lee Guhrke

Several chapters in, and I'm still not feeling any chemistry between the H/H. Another one for the DNF pile. I'm probably being over-picky, but I've got too many great books in my TBR box to waste time on one that doesn't hold my interest.

The ClubThe Club by Sharon Page

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I'm not sure I should rate this one because I'm not going to finish it, nor am I sure I can explain why I'm not into it. The back cover blurb makes it sound like something I'd really enjoy, but it's just not doing it for me. I feel bad for Jane's traumatic experiences with a very violent late husband, but her squeamishness and angst makes me not want to read her as a heroine. I'm not feeling any chemistry between the H/H and as much as I wish I could be interested in the missing sister/friend, I'm just not. Bummer, because I've definitely enjoyed other books by Sharon Page.

This is a really great short story for anyone who likes the idea of riding a hot young cowboy. Very explicit & yummy. :)

Take a Chance on MeTake a Chance on Me by Susan Donovan

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I'm kind of on the fence about this one. The story was decent and the emotions were real, but the characters had more than their share of dipshit moments, and I found myself skimming past sections of the book.

A Courtesan's Guide to Getting Your ManA Courtesan's Guide to Getting Your Man by Susan Donovan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

BRILLIANT! This is now on my list of all-time favorite books. Steamy, passionate, tender and moving, Celeste Bradley and Susan Donovan have collaborated to create a truly outstanding book. I stayed up late and woke up early just so I could keep reading. This is not your garden variety anthology; the two stories are expertly connected and interwoven. The sex scenes are very graphic (which I love), so readers should keep that in mind. This is definitely a must read.
